Superb 18th century firing wine glass with an opaque twist stem, set on a thick base. Antique English Georgian style and period, dating from circa 1760. Firing glasses are used for toasting. After drinking, the glass is hit on the table top producing a loud firing sound. Hence the robust stem and a massive foot on such glasses.
